Han and Tang dynasties are the key periods of Chinese civilization development and prosperity, Chang’an, the capital of Han&Tang dynasties, was not only the political, economical and cultural centre in the great times,but also the famous international metropolis in the world, which had played an important role in the process of oriental culture development. In order to improve the study on urban development of Chang’an in Han&Tang Times, its international influences and the way of cross-cultural communication under the oriental culture development, Center for Historical Environment and Socio-Economic Development in Northwest China of Shaanxi Normal University will hold an international academic seminar about “Han-tang Chang’an and Oriental Civilization” at Xi’an during August 11-13,2011(from Thursday to Saturday).
This center is a key study base of Humanities & Social Science, which belongs to Ministry of Education. The Chinese Ancient Capital Society is also attached to this center. Prof. Shi Nianhai, the well-known scholar in the field of Historical Geography, had edited and published The Historical Atlas of Xi’an and Ancient Capital Xi’an Series(30 volumes.) in this center. The Chinese Ancient Capital and Historical Urban Geography are primary research fields of this center.
We sincerely hope that scholars at home and abroad who are interested with the issues on Han-tang Chang’an and oriental civilization write articles about the following themes:
1. The burban development of Han-tang Chang’an;
2. The political, economical and cultural importance of Hang-tang Chang’an;
3. Hang-tang Chang’an and The development of Han Culture Circle;
4.The cultural communication between Chang’an and ancient India, Persia and Arab during Hang&Tang Times;
5. Other topics on Chang’an culture .
For Chinese scholars, please fill in Attendee’s Form and send it to Conference Organizing Committee before June 20, 2011. Organizing Committee will send formal invitation letter at the end of June to inform attendees investigation routes, scheduling program.
For foreign scholars, please send Attendee’s Form to Organizing Committee as soon as possible. When we receive the Attendee’s Form, we will send the foraml invitation letter immediately in order that foreign scholars can apply for visa in time.
We will not charge conference fee for scholars who obtain formal invitation letter,but attendees should pay the communication expense and accommodation fee by themselves. This conference time will be three days, two days for academic seminars and one day for filed inverstigation. The sites for field inversitation is important ruins of Hang-tang Chang’an or World Horticultural Exposition in Xi’an.
